Meet the artist

Rebecca Ivatts is a talented artist who’s work shows the different kinds of emotive that can be created when you blend art and science. Rebeccas art had always focused on the nude, but the antenatal scans of her first child compelled her to take her paintbrush ‘inside’ for the first time With initial guidance from a London radiographer, brain imaging came as an epiphany – a springboard for the imagination, for finding the ‘out there’ through the ‘in here’. An angiogram took on the totemic symmetry of a tribal mask, a major stroke looked Eke an incredible opening up to the world. Rebecca peered into white and grey matter and saw dense ‘gardens’ inhabited by bodies, ghosts, constellations.
